The Byrraju Foundation and Emergency Management and Research Institute (EMRI) are two of many such initiatives in this direction.

Byrraju Foundation
Byrraju Foundation is a non-profit organization, which works to enhance the quality of life among the rural underprivileged. The Foundation provides services in the areas of healthcare, water, environment, sanitation, primary education, adult education and livelihood, providing benefits to over a million people in six districts of Andhra Pradesh - East Godavari, West Godavari, Krishna, Guntur, Ranga Reddy and Visakhapatnam.

Emergency Management and Research Institute (EMRI)
EMRI is a recognized nodal agency that partners with the Government of Andhra Pradesh in providing emergency response services using the latest information technology. EMRI senses the nature of the emergency and the place of its occurrence on a near real-time basis. With the support of the state-of-the-art infrastructure, EMRI provides much needed support to the affected. EMRI Vision: Provide leadership to respond to 2 million calls per day and save 2 million lives a year nationally by the year 2010 - meeting global standards in Emergency Management, Research and Training.
